The Romans perfected the use of lime 2000 years ago. Learn about lime application techniques, different uses and types of lime and their maintenance requirements; the historical use of lime, the making of lime, its environmental footprint and why lime is superior to cement in every sense.
We will have guided tours to Venice and Aquileia, with a focus on both
the historical and contemporary use of lime in building, and visit a
nearby active lime kiln, producer and supplier, and we will make and
apply different mixes.
This will be a practical course, taught by Italian and Venetian
practitioners and teachers with years of experience, and backed up with
lots of well illustrated theorysessions. The host, Stefano Soldati lives
in a strawbale house.
The course will be run in English as well as Italian. Funding is
available to cover all costs - your course fees and accommodation, food,
tours and travel costs for a full residential week at LaBoa
permacultura centre, near Venice, staying in a large strawbale house in a
beautiful, wine growing region on a river. Fee: 1.430 EUR
